This is a nice little original Mixed Gold Ohm Mandala Thangka Painting from Nepal. I brought it back with me from my last trip there. It has good detail and a nice 3-D effect. The canvas is very clean and in good shape as well. Ohm Mana Pad Mi Hum surrounds the center Ohm symbol of the painting which is a nice unique feature and is the Tibetan Buddhist Mantra. The gold composition is about 10 to 14K in the paint. In the blue area of the painting There is some ever so slight discoloration in a few areas. It is just a kind of lighter blue or more white blue. Also from the lower corners of the Black borderthere are faint amounts of black paint that I've noticed entered into the blue area. These are noticeable on very close inspection however they don't seem to detract from the beauty of the painting. I just like to be thorough describing my items the best I can. I've also discounted painting some for these small blemishes.
Ohm is thought to be the original vibratory sound of the universe and provides a powerful spiritual focal point for the mandala.
The Mandala is regarded as the most auspicious diagram in both Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. It is timeless and all embracing. The center is eternal and its periphery perfection. Mandalas were introduced by the preceptors and masters of the philosophy as a medium of worship to attain a better life and help free ones life of all sorts of worldly miseries.
Thangka paintings take a long time to make. Generally it takes the artist a few weeks to a month or more depending on the intricacy and detail of the painting.
I know whoever gets this painting is going to be very happy with it. The painting will come unframed rolled in a hard tube.
