Natural Jade Agate stone Ganesh Elephant carving Thailand A 5
This is a beautiful natural stone carved Ganesh from
Thailand. I brought it back with me from North Thailand on my last trip
there. The stone is often referred to as jade however technically it is a type
of agate often referred to as Carnelian Onyx or Sard.
( Agate, Carnelian and Sard are the same stone with slightly
different color variations).
Ganesh is know as the destroyer of obstacles and lord of beginnings.
His emergence as a deity arose about the 4th century AD in India
spanning into Nepal and Tibet and devotion became popular in both
Hundu and Buddhist religions. One may wish to research further about
the history and significance as well as devotional act and offerings, the
practice of Puja from the home.
